The International Awards for Liveable Communities (¡°The LivCom Awards¡±) are endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and co-organized by UNEP and the International Federation of Park and Recreation Administration (IFPRA). IFPRA is a famous international non-profit organization with a history of 54 years, and with over 1000 member organizations in more than 70 countries around the world including over 20 local governments and national institutions in China as its official members.

The Awards aim at initiating the best practice model of comprehensively initiating local environment management and green life style, with the purpose of creating the best practices of building a lively, pleasant and liveable community environment while encouraging innovation and enthusiasm.

This LivCom Awards, globally recognized as the ¡°Green Oscar¡±, is the world¡¯s only Awards competition focusing on important issues as the urban and community living environment management, ecological construction, resource utilization, human and nature, and sustainable development, and this Award is currently one of the world¡¯s highest honors in the field of urban construction and community management.

This Awards are the world's highest, largest, oldest and most authoritative international real estate brand in the "green, sustainable" urban and community development field and the landmark in the green sustainable urban and communities construction.

LivCom Awards, since launching in 1997 by UNEP and IFPRA, have been held for 14 sessions in succession, and till 2009, there have been over 100 cities in more than 70 countries around the world which have participated in, including Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Dalian of China, and there have been nearly 90 projects in over 50 countries around the world which have won the LivCom Awards including projects of China¡¯s well-known real estate organizations Vanke and Overseas Chinese Town since the Award¡¯s introduction into China by JCEP in 2001. And through its implementation, nearly 60 million people from over 200 communities in 21 cities of China have benefited from it.

On Nov. 26, 2007, UNEP and LivCom formally signed Memorandum of Understanding¡± (MOU) which elevated LivCom Awards parallel to UNEP¡¯s cooperative unit. By this MOU, both sides formally decided that starting from 2008, the LivCom Awards shall be co-organized by UNEP and IFPRA, and they would initiate cities and communities worldwide to participate in the Awards.

In 2009, UNEP and JCEP signed a MOU - UNEP-JCEP2010-2014 Memorandum of Understanding£¨UNEP-JCEP MOU/2009/DRC£©, by which JCEP shall, as UNEP¡¯s cooperative partner in China, be fully in charge of implementing a series of promotion and pilot projects construction concerning the ¡°Sustainable Urban Development and Liveable Garden Community -China Program¡± (SUC Program)for 2010-2014 launched by UNEP.
