Beijing Dongcheng, Jiangsu Wuxi and Changzhou were invited to attend Finals of the 14th LivCom Awards --- They are going to compete with cities from more than 30 countries in Chicago, USA for the "Green Oscar" from 4th to 8th November
Recently, LivCom Awards Organizing Committee reviewed all the LivCom written submissions and released the results. Among all the submissions from nearly 300 cities in 30 countries, Dongcheng District of Beijing, Wuxi City and Changzhou City of Jiangsu province were officially invited to attend the Global Final this year. The Final this year will be hosted in the ¡°Green City¡± of United States- Chicago from November 4th and last for 5 days. According to the LivCom Awards Organizing Committee, in addition to the 3 Chinese cities, there are also 40 cities from 30 countries gained access to the LivCom Awards global finals. There are still a number of submissions from many countries still being evaluated, and the judging panel will announce the list of finalists to the world soon. As expected, the final this year in Chicago will become the biggest one in the award¡¯s history.
As the LivCom China Regional Organizing Committee, Jia Cui (China) has introduced this award into China since 2001; and it has been 10 years for Jia Cui to promote the LivCom Awards. Facing a big growth of participants in this year¡¯s competition, Mr. Li Xiang, head of Jia Cui (China) was still optimistic about winning for the 3 Chinese cities. He pointed out that the current level of global competition in the final this year might be described as "brutal", not only because the final had made adjustments on the population category which has relatively concentrated presentations from participating cities and thus greatly increased the difficulties of the final, more so because the appeal of Chicago as the final hosting city, the world's best cities get together and compete in the Final¡¯s last showdown. Turning to the 3 participating cities of China, Mr. Li Xiang also believed that the submissions of Chinese cities reached nearly 20 candidates this year and the short-listed 3 cities represented the best among them, and with their own characteristics and distinctive environmental development model, even in the strong competition this year they would be very competitive, he believed the Chinese delegations would once again gain the world¡¯s attentions!
According to reports, this final in Chicago will consist of exhibitions, oral presentations, DVD and PPT presentations, Q&A, field communications, judge and audience ratings etc. As said by the Mayor of Chicago Mr. Daley: during the 5-day final in Chicago, cities worldwide will experience what will be a unique, global exchange of Best Practice and excellent social events. These will offer opportunities to network with Politicians and Officers from different countries and cultures, including best global liveable practice exchange and high-end series of social activities. At the same time, this conference showcases progress in sustainability and spurs other innovative programs and solutions to emerging issues. Facing such competitive final, the 3 competing cities all show great confidence, they all believe that the final will not only be an international competition, but also a great opportunity to showcase the city¡¯s image to the world.
We look forward to seeing Chinese cities shine again in Chicago this year.
