The LivCom Awards delegation visited Wuxi and Changzhou,and Mr. Alan Smith praised the Southern Ecological Living Environment

      Between August 24th to 26th, on the invitation of Wuxi and Changzhou Municipal government, Mr. Alan Smith, Chief Executive of LivCom Awards and Ms. Claudette Savaria, Chairman of the Judging Panel of LivCom Awards paid an in-depth visit to these two cities. Prior to this trip, Alan Smith and his party had just concluded a comprehensive visit to Dongcheng District of Beijing.

      Wuxi Municipal Party Secretary-Mr. Yang Weize, Vice Mayor of Wuxi- Mr. Wu Jianxuan, Deputy Secretary-General of Wuxi government- Mr. Chen Yichang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Bureau of Urban Utilities and Landscaping of Wuxi City and other government officials met and greeted Mr. Alan Smith and his party. Secretary Yang Weize first showed his welcoming to the visiting delegates, and then, he described in detail the recent main achievements and operational measures in the field of living ecological environment in Wuxi, he said, to create an LivCom Award-winning city was not only a major event for 6 million Wuxi citizens, but also an event that the public could actively support and participate in, therefore, the municipal government attached great importance to the application of LivCom Awards; Vice Mayor of Wuxi- Mr. Wu Jianxuan also gave warm welcomes to Alan Smith and his party and described in detail the recent urban construction progresses in Wuxi and showed the visiting delegates how Wuxi was preparing for the application of LivCom Awards.

      In a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere, Alan Smith, Chief Executive of LivCom Awards and Ms. Claudette Savaria, Chairman of the Judging Panel of LivCom Awards introduced the history of LivCom Awards and this year competition to the Wuxi government officials, and they held a two hour discussion with Secretary Yang Weize to share with each other the ideas and experiences of comfortable and participatory urban development.

      When Alan Smith, Chief Executive of LivCom Awards learned that Secretary Yang Weize led the Suzhou city and won the LivCom Awards when he was still the Mayor of SuZhou, he gladly announced that since the launch of the awards 13 years ago, no one city mayor has led two cities to success in competing in the LivCom Awards. He hoped Secretary Yang Weize would lead Wuxi to gain great success in the finals of LivCom Awards this year, and became the worlds’ first city leader who led two different cities to success in the competition, and created another “first” in the history of LivCom Awards.

      On August 25th, accompanying by the Deputy mayor Mr. Wu Jianxuan, Deputy Secretary-General of Wuxi government Mr. Chen Yichang and Secretary-General of the LivCom Awards China Organizing Committee Mr. Li Xiang, Mr. Alan Smith and Ms. Claudette Savaria, visited many sites in Wuxi, which included Li Hu Xin Cheng, Tai Hu Xin Cheng, Hui Shan Ancient Town, Lang Shi future home low-carbon community for in-depth research, and participated in the mobilization activity organized to celebrate and gain supports from the Wuxi citizens for the application of LivCom Awards at the commercial pedestrian street in Wuxi.
