¡¡¡¡Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr. Zhang Limin attended the "International Sustainable Cities Forum" - (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People¡¯s Republic of China)

¡¡¡¡March 30, 2009, the International Sustainable Cities Forum, jointly sponsored by the Jia Cui China Exhibition and the New Zealand Herald, assisted by China's Urban Real Estate Developer Strategic Alliance, was held in New Zealand's largest city Auckland. Ambassador to New Zealand Zhang Limin, Consul General in Auckland Liao Juhua, New Zealand Minister of the Interior and Land Information Minister Richard • Worth, Mayor of Auckland John • Banks and more than 150 representatives from the two countries of political, economic and trade attended the forum. Ambassador Zhang Limin made a warm opening speech.

¡¡¡¡In his speech Ambassador Zhang said that, this forum coincided with the one-year anniversary of the trade agreement reached by China and New Zealand, such coincidence was quite significant, which reflected the increasingly close exchanges and cooperation between China and New Zealand. This sustainable development, as one global issue of common interest, was always the concern of governments. The Chinese Government, with the spirit of being highly responsible, had always committed to sustainable development of cities, and putting the building of a resource-saving and environment-friendly society at a very prominent place in the process of industrialization and modernization. New Zealand attached great importance to sustainable development and had achieved significant accomplishment and accumulated valuable experiences in urban development and planning. The forum was of great significance for both countries to strengthen communication and deepen cooperation under the current economic situation.

¡¡¡¡Some Chinese entrepreneurs and officials, together with the New Zealand counterparts, had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the experience, issues and technical innovation of urban sustainable development and their contributions to sustainable development. Chinese entrepreneurs and officials included were Wang Shi, Chairman of China Vanke Group (the real estate enterprise with the world¡¯s highest market value), Meng Gang, the Chairman of China's Urban Real Estate Developer Strategic Alliance, and the representatives of the "International Garden City" winner Wujin district of Jiangsu province and Xing County of Zhejiang province.
