On July 1, 2009 (Beijing time), upon UNEP and UN-Habitat's warm invitation, Secretary-General of LivCom Awards China Organizing Committee - Mr. Li Xiang and other delegates visited UNEP and UN-Habitat headquarters. They had a friendly and warm meet for two days respectively with UN Under-Secretary-General and UNEP Executive Director ¨C Mr. Achim Steiner, and Mr. Lars Reutersw?rd, Director of UN Habitat's Global Division. A framework of cooperation was established between LivCom Awards China Organizing Committee and the two UN organs, which will have a great impact on promoting the development of human settlements in China.

This delegation, the Chinese green real estate delegation, is comprised of Secretary-General - Li Xiang, and many other famous real estate entrepreneurs in China such as Wang Shi, Chairman of Vanke Group, Zhang Yue, Chairman of Hunan Yuanda Group, Zhang Zaidong, Chairman of Beijing Tiptop International, Xia Gang, Chairman of Jiangxi Yida Real Estate, and Chen Jun, Chairman of Nanjing New Space Development Co., Ltd. They demonstrated their latest planning and achievements on corporate development and human settlements development respectively to UNEP and UN-Habitat, and were highly praised by these two UN organs.
During the meeting, Achim Steiner, UN Under-Secretary-General and UNEP Executive Director, spoke highly of the efforts and achievements made by Livcom Awards China Organizing Committee on promoting the Awards and international human settlement standards of UNEP over years. He excitedly pointed out that Livcom Awards was the most authoritative and most successful global awards endorsed by UN on human settlements, and China's participation made it more influential. He was very glad that 19 Chinese cities and 38 Chinese communities won the awards, and meanwhile, he hoped more Chinese cities and communities could participate in it and contributed more to the development of human settlements.
After the meeting, UNEP expressed that they would fully support the work of China Organizing Committee in China. A series of promotion plans, exhibition programs and individual policies towards China were being formulated. They would jointly with the China Organizing Committee promote the internationalization process of Chinese cities and communities, including assist China in establishing internationalized commonweal organizations and special eco-fund for the cause of sustainable development in China, and specify international experts to provide guidance to China. UNEP also planned to visit China within this year, and to negotiate and sign a comprehensive memorandum of understanding on the follow-up matters with the China Organizing Committee.
After the meeting with UNEP, the China LivCom delegation visited UN-HABITAT, and Lars Reutersw?rd, Director of UN Habitat's Global Division, together with heads of their seven departments, warmly welcomed Chinese delegation. Director Lars Reutersw?rd gave a detailed introduction on the UN-Habitat's global work, as well as UN-Habitat's history, mission, structure, functions and so on. When talking of the World Cities Summit, the Shanghai World Expo- "the United Nations Pavilion" and the UN Habitat Award, he warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation¡¯s support and active participation.

In support of UN-Habitat's improvement on global habitat, after the meeting and under the unified organization of the China Organizing Committee, members of the delegation officially signed the donation memorandum with the initial subscription of 100 million shillings (equivalent to RMB 10 million yuan) to fully support UN-HABITAT¡¯s cause of global human settlements.
