The Danish Model is Worth Thinking about for the Chinese People The Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Xie Hangsheng Held Deep and eaningful Talks with the City and Business Delegation from China
December 6, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., upon the invitation of the Chinese Embassy to Denmark, the five representatives of cities and businesses from China including Chairman of Vanke Group 每 Mr. Wang Shi, Secretary of Wu Jin District committee of the CPC, Jiang Su Province 每 Mr. Shen Ruiqing, Chairman of Vantone Group 每 Mr. Feng Lun and Secretary-General of Jia Cui (China) Environmental Promotive Center 每 Mr. Li Xiang and Secretary-General of Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology (SEE) 每 Mr. Yang Peng visited the residence of the Chinese Ambassador to Denmark 每 Mr. Xie Hangsheng. They discussed deeply into the topics of climate change measures of China and Denmark, and commercial and industrial development models of the two countries.

Ambassador Xie Hangsheng highlighted the green energy, green buildings, business sectors and other aspects of the Danish society. He said that people like Mr. Wang Shi and Mr. Feng Lun were business thinkers, who, not only should know about the building energy conservation and energy environmental protection in Denmark, but also should pay extra attention to the ※Danish Model§. The Ambassador said the ※Danish Model§ was a model that maintained both good welfare level and high growth rate, many of its targets were ranking within top ten of the global competitiveness ratings. This could sum up as good security in the labor market. Denmark had a very strong union power, but for businesses they could lay off employees any time, so they could develop better. Businesses could always hire someone while lay off at any time, as unemployment protection was provided by the government, businesses could worry less about job cuts, and focus on better development. According to reports, the unemployed in Denmark during their four years of unemployment period can receive equal to 90% of the unemployment wages at most. Although this had raised a number of lazy people, yet a healthy flow of talents had been maintained under the good welfare policies.
As a native born in the Jiangsu & Zhejiang regions of China, Ambassador Xie Hangsheng has a good knowledge of the Wu Jin model, which is a classic sample model of China*s urban environment and economic development. He expressed his great appreciation towards the Wujin mode, and also extended his sincere and prompt congratulations the moment he knew that Secretary of Wu Jin District committee of the CPC-Shen Ruiqing was the only city official invited by United Nations to attend the Climate Conference in Copenhagen. In his view, if a city could receive the official invitation of the United Nations to participate in the global climate conference, it was not only the great honor to the city, but also a full recognition by the United Nations and the world of its environmental protection and economic development.

Ambassador Xie Hangsheng was very pleased that Chinese cities and businesses participated in the Climate Conference, he said, 60 years after the founding of P.R. China, the Chinese embassies and consulates abroad were also changing their missions, for him personally with a background in the banking system, he was particularly concerned about China*s economic development and opportunities in the global competition. At the end of the discussion, he once again said that the Danish model was worthy of a good studying; that in Denmark, people were ashamed of extravagancy and lying; that the Wujin mode as the representative of Chinese urban development patterns and the spirit of Chinese businesses represented by Mr. Wang Shi of Vanke Group were admirable.
